Local security operatives of the Plateau State University (PLASU) Bokkos, have repelled an attack on the campus by suspected bandits trying to abduct students of the institution.
The officials in the institution said the marauding armed men invaded the female hostel between Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday to abduct their target victims.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the school, John Agams, told Peoples Gazette that the attackers stormed the university to kidnap students, but the local security in the university foiled them.
”It is true that gunmen attempted to kidnap some of our students, but our local security men repelled the attempt. In the process, one student was injured, but no student was abducted,” the official stated.
He added:/”The vice-chancellor, Prof Benard Matur, is currently at the school premises and appealing to students to be peaceful.”
However, the police command in Plateau has not commented on the attack.
