Police Arrest 12 for Kidnapping, Cattle Rustling, Vandalism in Kaduna

The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, cattle rustling, and vandalism.

Confirming the arrests in a statement on Saturday, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan, explained that on November 12, officers from Operation Fushin Kada, led by SP Usman Namaibindiga, conducted an operation based on credible intelligence that led to the capture of four members of a notorious kidnapping syndicate.

The suspects, identified as Yahaya Abdullahi, Shamsu Ibrahim, Linus Obasi, and Hauwa Mohammed, were arrested in Dutsen Wai village, Kubau Local Government Area.

During interrogation, Abdullahi admitted that he and Ibrahim had kidnapped a woman from Rahama village and taken her to Obasi’s brothel, where she was held by Mohammed until a ransom of N3 million was paid.

ASP Hassan said in another operation on November 6, the police tracked down and arrested two kidnapping suspects in Ikara LGA. The suspects, Surajo Hassan and Abdulhadir Usman confessed to involvement in multiple kidnappings and armed robberies.

One of their victims was held captive for 60 days before being released after an N8 million ransom was paid. The suspects admitted to receiving N1 million each from the ransom.

On November 13, Operation Fushin Kada operatives arrested Audu Abdullahi in Kujama, Kaduna. The preliminary investigation revealed that he was part of a cattle rustling syndicate that operated with AK-47 rifles and other weapons. A search in a nearby bush led to the recovery of a locally made firearm and charms.

Additionally, the statement revealed that officers responded to a tip-off from the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) about suspicious activities at the trade fair complex where they arrested Salisu Mohammed, Mohammed Abubakar, and Aliyu Isah, who confessed to being part of a group specializing in vandalizing armoured cable wires.

The suspects named Abubakar Garba and Isiaku Abdullahi as their receivers, who were later apprehended in Malalin Gabas and Rigasa.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi stressed that the arrested suspects will face court proceedings following the completion of investigations.
