Police Arrest 22 Suspected Hoodlums Terrorising Minna

Niger State police command have raided criminal hideouts and arrested 22 suspected hoodlums terrorising Minna metropolis, the state capital Niger State, Wasiu Abiodun, the state’s police spokesman revealed.

In a statement made available to newsmen in Minna on Friday, Abiodun said the criminal hideouts raided include, Angwan-Daji, Angwan-Kanawa, Limawa, Maitumbi, Barkin-Sale and Makera area of Bosso and Chanchaga local councils.

“Consequently, on 21/06/2022, a team of Police operatives mobilized from Department of operations, Bosso and Minna Area Commands arrested twenty-two (22) suspected miscreants (thugs) at different locations such as: Angwan-Daji, Angwan-Kanawa, Limawa, Maitumbi, Barkin-Sale and Makera area of Bosso and Chanchaga LGAs of the State,” Abiodun said.

Items recovered from them include; one saw, seven cutlasses, eight wraps of suspected cannabis, one scissors, two knives, sticks, and a bottle containing illicit substances, according to Abiodun.

In the statement, Abiodun said the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Monday Bala Kuryas, “wishes to reassure members of the public that the Command will not relent in its efforts to ensure that miscreants who specialises in disturbance of public peace, most especially in Minna metropolis are effectively dealt with in accordance to the law.”

Kuryas, according to the police spokesman, is committed to exploring the administration of the criminal justice system and partners the judiciary towards a diligent prosecution of the suspects arrested with reference to previous criminal records of each suspect.

However, the police urged members of the public, parents and guardians to cooperate with them and other security agencies towards achieving a crime-free environment in the state.
