The Police in Adamawa and Nasarawa states have recorded separate security successes with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers and the killing of an armed robbery suspect during patrol operations.
In Adamawa State, the police command said it arrested two suspects over alleged kidnapping and related threats in Sarau Belel community, Maiha Local Government Area. The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Yola.
According to him, the arrests followed a complaint filed on December 26 by Mr Emmanuel Daniel of Sagal Village, who reported that the suspects had threatened to kidnap him. The suspects allegedly claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of his younger brother, Joshua Daniel, who has been missing since November 2024.
Nguroje said the Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer in Sarau Belel to carry out a coordinated operation, leading to the suspects’ arrest.

He added that the suspects had confessed and were currently providing useful information to aid investigations. The case has been transferred to the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, in Nasarawa, police operatives neutralised a suspected armed robber and recovered a firearm during a patrol along the Lafia–Obi Road.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Rahman Nansel, said the incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. on December 26.
He explained that operatives attached to the Jenkwe Division encountered a five-man armed robbery gang that had blocked the highway and engaged them in a gun duel.
During the exchange, one suspect was neutralised, while others escaped into the bush with suspected gunshot wounds. A locally fabricated pistol and one live round of ammunition were recovered, while the suspect’s body was deposited at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.
Nansel said efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects, noting that the operation was part of directives by the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, to intensify patrols and raids on criminal hideouts to ensure a peaceful yuletide.
