The police in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital have arrested a 32-year-old man, Bashir Umar, for serial abuse of an eight-year-old girl.
Umar was alleged to have abused the girl multiple times including inserting a pair of scissors into her genitalia.
The Police spokesperson in Dutse, DSP Lawal Shiisu Adam stated in a statement that the incident was reported to Dutse Divisional Police Headquarters on August 29.
The suspect was alleged to have coerced the girl into a one table water company’s restroom in Galamawa town of Dutse and forcibly inserted scissors and a spoon into her vagina and anus.
“In a similar manner, he injected her private part with a syringe, rendering her unconscious to the point of incapacitation, and causing blood to seep from her virginity,” the statement said.
“After she regained consciousness, he gave her one hundred and fifty naira (#150) and threatened to kill her and her parents if she tell anyone about what had transpired.
“From then on, whenever he saw her heading to school, he would entice her into his room, abuse her again using the same technique, and threaten to tell no one.”
The statement added that “after experiencing problems with her urine and stool due to vaginal and anus mixing, she was brought to the hospital, where the attending physician verified that her genital organ had been punctured.”
“She later disclosed the protracted abuse she had been enduring with the suspect.
The police said the survivor is currently at Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital Dutse where she was receiving treatment.
Meanwhile the suspect had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse for discreet investigation.
