Police Arrest Six For Gang-Raping Minor In Kebbi

Police in Kebbi have arrested a gang of six suspects for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl in Koko, Besse local government area of the state.

WikkiTimes gathered that the suspects gained notoriety for rape. Several parents and guardians filed complaints with the police against the group on allegations bordering on rape. Before their arrest, a father in Aliero accused one of the suspects of threatening to kill his 10-year-old daughter after he allegedly raped her.

Samuel Musa, the Commissioner of police in charge of Kebbi State Command disclosed this to reporters on Wednesday while parading the suspects.

“A man in Koko reported that his 16-year-old daughter was missing. However, police found her after some investigations where she confirmed that five of the suspects severally rapped her,” he said.

Mr Samuel added that the suspects deceived the victim, promising to take her to their separate houses at different times.

The Commissioner of Police said that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the police completed the investigation into the matter.

In July 2022, a former Governor of the state, Atiku Bagudu assented to the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Act (VAPP) into law. The Act provides for a death penalty for anyone found guilty of rape in the state.
