The police in Gombe State have arrested Abubakar Usman and Usman Ismail for allegedly snatching mobile phones worth thousands of naira in the state capital.
The suspects, armed with machetes, sticks and cutlasses attacked commuters along Hayin Kwarin Misau quarters in Gombe, and robbed them of their mobiles phones and other valuables on their way home from their places of work.
Buhari Abdullahi, the Gombe State Police Command spokesman who confirmed the arrest said the suspects were nabbed by operatives attached to Operation Hattara behind Baga Primary School.
Abdullahi said the suspects confessed to have attacked commuters and confiscated expensive mobile phones from them.
He said the phones snatched include one Techno Cammon A31 valued at N50,000.00, one keypad-phone valued at N6,500.00, one Honor model 360 valued at N250,000.00 and an Itel valued at N207,000.00.
“However, during the course of investigation the said suspects admitted and confessed to the crime, they will soon be charged to court for prosecution”, he said.
