The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two private security guards over the alleged theft of a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Project (L-PRES) office in Bauchi.
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Nafi’u Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday.
He identified the suspects as Yarda John and Jessy Danjuma, both 19, residents of the Government Reserved Area (GRA) and State Low-Cost areas of Bauchi metropolis, respectively.
According to the police, the incident was reported by Markus Ibrahim, a security guard with Royal Guards Security Limited, a private firm providing security services to the L-PRES office.
Mr Abubakar said the complainant received a distress call at about 9:30 p.m. on December 11, 2025, from the L-PRES coordinator, who reported that two guards deployed to the organisation’s premises along Adamu Jumba Road, GRA, had allegedly conspired and absconded with one of its official vehicles.
“The suspects were later identified as Yarda John, 19, of GRA, Bauchi, and Jessy Danjuma, 19, of State Low-Cost, Bauchi,” the statement said.
The stolen vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux with registration number 03B-04 BA, was subsequently recovered at the Bauchi Club in the GRA area of the metropolis. The suspects were also arrested at the location, police said.
Mr Abubakar noted that investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the probe.
He reiterated the Bauchi State Police Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and urged residents to continue cooperating with the police by providing timely and credible information.
