Police Ban Ramadan Moon Procession In Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command has banned the proposed procession to mark the sighting of the moon in the month of Ramadan in the state.

SP Ahmed Wakili, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed that the command had been notified of a purported plan by some miscreants to disrupt the peace of the state during the procession.

The statement said, “the attention of the Bauchi State Command has been drawn to a purported plan by some miscreants who disguise in the celebration of the sightation of the new Ramadan moon to disrupt the peace of the state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state Umar Mamman Sanda warned those proposing the procession to desist from that as they will be met with stiff resistance from the Police.

CP Sanda also directed all Area Commanders in the state, DPOs and all Tactical Team Commanders/Operational Departments of the Command to put in place more efforts to arrest any person or group of persons involved in any attempt to disrupt law and order in the state.

He implored the people of the state to continue supporting the Force in the fight against criminality, pledging that the Command under his watch shall continue to puncture activities of all criminal ambassadors in the state.
