The Benue State Police confirmed on Wednesday the kidnapping of two female students from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), previously known as the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (FUAM).
According to witnesses, the abduction took place on Saturday night along the road leading to the university.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident to journalists in Makurdi but did not disclose the identities of the students involved.

Anene explained that the kidnapping occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday night along the North Bank/UniAgric road in Makurdi, clarifying that the incident did not take place within the university campus.
She explained that the abductors had blocked the road, intercepted the victims, and taken them away before security operatives could respond. Anene added that the families of the victims and the university authorities had informed the police, and an investigation is underway.
