The Gombe State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has joined forces with Galaxy Backbone Limited, a federal government-owned Information and Communication Technology (ICT) firm, to bolster public safety in the state through advanced ICT solutions.
The partnership was announced during a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Commissioner of Police (CP) for the State, Bello Yahaya, to the North-East regional office of Galaxy Backbone in Gombe.
CP Yahaya emphasized the police command’s commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen security operations and improve policing efficiency.
According to CP Yahaya, the collaboration will focus on enhancing security infrastructure, driving digital transformation, and implementing capacity-building initiatives for the Gombe State Police Command.
He highlighted that Galaxy Backbone’s support would provide the command with access to cutting-edge surveillance systems, real-time monitoring tools, and integrated emergency response mechanisms.
In response, the North-East Regional Coordinator of Galaxy Backbone, Ibrahim Bello, expressed gratitude for the visit and assured the police command of the company’s full support.
Bello revealed that Galaxy Backbone operates a state-of-the-art Safe City Emergency Command Centre, which offers real-time intelligence, proactive threat detection, and seamless inter-agency collaboration.
He further explained that the centre is a key component of the National Information and Communications Technology Infrastructure Backbone (NICTIB) project, a federal initiative aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s ICT infrastructure.
