Police Nab Notorious Armed Robber, Recover N5 Million, Rifle in Kano

The Police in Kano state have arrested a notorious kidnapper terrorizing locals in Kunchi LGA, recovering over N4 million, two AK-47 rifle and 47 rounds of live ammunition.

The State Police Command’s spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement on Tuesday said the suspected armed robber, Hassan Iliya from Katsina State was arrested after they attacked a resident of Yandadi Village and robbed him of fifteen million naira.

According to him, the suspect was arrested while trying to flee with a motorcycle, adding that a sack was found in his possession that contained N4,986,000 cash and two AK-47 rifle with 47 live ammunitions.

“On 05/08/2024 at about 02:00am, a resident of Yandadi Village, Kunchi LGA, Kano State reported that armed robbers stormed his residence, attacked him, and robbed him of Fifteen Million Naira (N15,000,000.00)”.

“On the same date at about 06:00am, the team arrested the principal suspect, Hassan Iliya, 35 years old, of Alhazawa Village, Musawa LGA, Katsina State, while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.

“A spot search revealed a sack containing two AK-47 Rifles with 47 rounds of live ammunition and cash, totaling four million, nine hundred, and eighty-six thousand naira (N4,986,000.00)”, said Kiyawa.

The spokesman further said investigation is ongoing while appealing to the public to avoid acts capable of instigating violence and remain vigilant.
