Police Parade Over 300 Suspects For Kidnapping, Robbery In Kano

Police in Kano have paraded over suspected criminals arrested in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, car theft and other crimes in the state.

Lawal Abubakar, Commissioner of Police Kano State Command, disclosed this while parading the suspects at Bompai, the command headquarters on Saturday.

He said the suspects were apprehended for committing offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, car theft, thuggery and drug abuse, among others.

CP Abubakar maintained that 51 suspects were arrested for Armed Robbery, 69 for kidnapping, 12 fraudsters, seven human traffickers, 18 for motor vehicle and tricycle thefts, six drug dealers and 168 suspected thugs.

He said the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

He noted that the command also succeeded in recovering 27 rifles, including six AK-47 rifles, four beretta pistols, one English pistol, one double barrel gun, one locally-made SMG, and six locally-made pistols.

Others, he said were two locally-made revolver pistols, six Dane guns, 24 motor vehicles,12 tricycles, two motorcycles and 94 knives.

“Drugs recovered from various suspects, addicts, and dealers are 306 parcels and 263 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, two cartons of suspected tramadol tablets and 1,213 pieces of exol tablets.

“The rest were 48 pieces of robber solution, 30 motor vehicle batteries, nine ceiling fans, one Plasma TV, one grinding machine, 75 mobile phones, one iron cutter, a bunch of master keys, and others,” he said.

He added that the command also rescued 11 kidnapped victims and 17 victims of trafficking.
