Police parades suspects over kidnapping, culpable homicide, others in Bauchi

Suspected persons have been paraded by the Bauchi state Police command for taking part in various criminal acts across Bauchi state.

The state Police Commissioner, Phillip Maku who paraded the suspects at the command headquarters said some of them were arrested in connection with the kidnap and murder of Dr. Sulaiman Auwal’s son, Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman (19yrs old).

Maku said one of the suspects, Muhammed Jibrin, AKA Al-amin, aged 19 of Ibrahim Bako, behind AYM Shafa Filling Station, Bauchi was arrested following a report by the victim’s father, Dr. Auwal on 9th April, 2020.

“On 09/04/2020, one Dr. Sulaiman Auwal, ‘m’ of Ibrahim Bako, behind AYM Shafa Filling Station Bauchi, reported that he received a phone call from an unknown person stating that they had kidnapped his son, one Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman, ‘m’ 19yrs and demanded the sum of ten million naira as ransom (N10, 000,000)”, the CP said.

He added that, upon received of the report, detectives from the Anti Kidnapping Unit swung into action and arrested the one of the suspects, Mohammed Jibrin.

According to the Police commissioner, “the suspect confessed that on the 04/04/2020, he and one Abdulrahman Sulaiman ‘m’ 29yrs criminally conspired, killed and buried the victim, Abubakar Sadiq Suleiman in their compound”.

CP Maku further noted that the suspect confessed that they used part of the ransom paid through his account to buy Mercedes E320 4matic at the cost of one million six hundred and fifty thousand naira and iphones mobile phone at the cost of one hundred and fifty-six thousand naira.

He said that the his men in a separate operation also arrested Mohammed Sani Abdullahi of Tashan Randa, Gumau, Toro L.G.A, one, Sale Gamji of Bauda village and one, Ya’u Alhaji Baba of Jola village, all males, in connection with the case of kidnapping and culpable homicide.

The CP said Mohammed Sani Abdullahi was arrested in connection with the kidnapping of one Hajiya Ramatu, a sister to senator Lawal Yahaya Gumau while Sale Ganji and Ya’u Alhaji Baba were arrested in connection with the kidnapping and killing of one Baduguje.

The police commissioner also said an 18 year old house wife, Salma Hassan of Itas Gadau local government area of Bauchi state was arrested for stabbing her husband, Mohammed Mustapha of the same address with a knife which resulted to his death.

“The suspect was arrested and confessed to the crime. Exhibit recovered from the suspect was One Knife”, he pointed out.

The police commissioner also disclosed that, one Bashir Muktar ‘m’ 23yrs of Dutsen Tanshi was arrested for conniving with five others at large for beating Abubakar Lawal to stuppor which led to his death.

“Bashir Muktar and five others at large attached to unity security hunters and patrol Nigeria limited, Bauchi, criminally conspired among themselves, arrested and took one Abubakar Lawal ‘m’ of Kofar Dumi area, Bauchi to their office and beat him and became unconscious, as a result he sustained various degree of injuries on his body which subsequently led to his dead”, Maku said.

He said one stick and a rubber knife was recovered as exhibit while the suspects have confessed to committing the act.
