Men of the Nigerian Police Force, NPF, have rescued two kidnapped victims in Wafa, a community in Kurfi local government area of Katsina State after repelling the attackers.
WikkiTimes gathered that the kidnap victims stormed the community at about 12 midnight where they rescued two men identified as Alhaji Aminu Wapa and Wada Sale after they mobilised to the location following a distress call.
SP Gambo Isah, Spokesperson of the Katsina Police Command confirmed the incident to reporters in a statement on Friday.

“Today (Friday) 19 August 2022, at about 0100hrs, a distress call was received that terrorists, numbering twenty-four (24), on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles, attacked Wapa village, Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped the duo of Alhaji Aminu Wapa and Wada Sale of Wapa village, Kurfi council.
“On receipt of the information, the Command deployed its tactical teams to the area and engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel. The team successfully repelled the terrorists and rescued the kidnapped victims.
“Many terrorists were feared to have been killed and/or fatally wounded during the encounter. A team of policemen are still combing the area with a view to arresting the wounded terrorists and/or recovering their dead bodies,” the statement read in part.
Katsina is one of the troubled states in the northwest where terrorists continue to inflict terror on residents through kidnapping and cattle rustling unabatedly over the last couple years.
