our correspondent on Thursday in Bauchi said the system will greatly help inreducing unemployment amongst graduates in the country.

While applauding the federal ministry of education fortaking the right decision by introducing IPPIS, Abba expressed confidence thatthe system will no doubt help in combating corruption in the educational sectorof the country.

“With this new development brought by the educationministry under the able leadership of Malam Adamu, corruption will be clearedbecause you cannot be a staff in four different universities.

The issue of IPPIS will by extension create a vacuum forother people to field in and be gainfully employed which will in turn, reducethe rate of unemployment in the country”, he said.

According to him, “it is not good to say that alecturer is teaching in more than one institution and at the same timecollecting salaries from different employers while others who are qualified areblocked from having job to do”.

Abba commended the minister of education, Malam Adamu Adamufor making efforts that has during his stewardship translated into a totaltransformation of the educational system in the country, particularly thetertiary institutions.

“Malam Adamu who happens to be the 46th minister ofeducation in the country has been one of the greatest pushers of educationbecause it is only during his time that the sector got about N1.3 trillion from2015 to 2019, no other government has spent on education and make positiveimpact like this government, courtesy of Malam Adamu’s vision and his giantstride towards the education sector”, he said.

According to Abba, UBEC, one of the parastatals under thestewadship of the minister has spent more than N350 billion as interventions tostates as well as more than N800 billion through the TETFund on tertiaryinstitutions across the country.

He said, “before taking charge as minister ofeducation, Malam Adamu for instance from 2010 to 2015 when he was not aminister of education the remittal from JAMB to the federal treasury was not upto N50 million but under Malam Adamu, JAMB remitted N7.8 billion to thefederation account in 2018 alone and it remitted N5 billion in 2019. So, youcan see the difference”.

“During the PDP era when Malam Adamu was not the minister, only N50 million was remitted but now we are talking of billions not millions. But again, the federal government in its magnanimity, decided to reduce JAMB fees so that the common man can afford.” Abba added.

On the agitation for the actualization of federal college ofeducation, FCE Misau, Alhaji Abba noted that there is no reason for otherpeople to call for the sitation of the college somewhere other than Misaubecause the bill for its creation was purposely meant for Misau which waspassed into law by the Senate.

“How can someone start to agitate for the situation of the FCE somewhere else when the national assembly has Gazetted it to be in Misau. By law, it has been passed, what is left now is for it to take off.” Abba said.

According to him, forsomebody to be calling for the sitation of the institution in a different placeis doing a wrong thing because the law says it should be in Misau.

He said that the issue of siting the college in Misau hasbeen sealled as it was initially meant for the area and no other place inBauchi.

“The issue of where to site the institution has passedand what is left now is the issue of takeoff, we are not talking about sitingnow because  the law has sited it inMisau”, says Malam Baba.

Baba who expressed hope that academic activities will sooncommence in the college in Misau, thanked the minister for finding Bauchi stateand by extension, Misau most suitable place for the college, saying that itwill boost learning process in the area.
