Professor Abdullahi Mahadi, a former Vice-Chancellor of Gombe State University (GSU) has died on Friday aged 77.
Professor Mahadi, a renowned historian and an accomplished university administrator died at the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe after a protracted illness.
A member of Professor Mahadi’s family announced his death in a post saying, “Innalillahi wa Inna’ilaihi Raji’un. It is with a heavy heart I announce to you that Prof. Abdullahi Mahadi has passed away last night at the FTH, Gombe. The funeral prayer will take place today (Saturday) by 4 pm at the Emir’s Palace Gombe.”
WikkiTimes learned that Professor Mahadi’s funeral prayer holds today at 4 pm at the palace of the Emir of Gombe.
In 2004, Senator Danjuma Goje appointed Mahadi pioneer Vice-Chancellor of GSU where he spent a decade nursing the university into a citadel of learning. Again, in 2018 former Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo appointed him the pioneer Vice-Chancellor of Gome State University of Science and Technology Kumo.
In 1998, Federal Government appointed Professor Mahadi as the ninth Vice-Chancellor of Ahamdu Bello University Zaria.
