Professor Umaru Pate has been overwhelmingly elected as the Pioneer President of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB) in a rigorous election held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
The SNB Electoral Committee Chairman, Engineer Yomi Bolanrinwa, a former National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) Director General, announced Prof. Pate’s victory on Thursday. He defeated Mr. Okoduwa Matthew Eigbobor, a former Zonal Director of NBC, with a landslide 231 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Pate expressed gratitude to the esteemed members of SNB for entrusting him with the leadership role. He pledged to work tirelessly to make the association great.
A renowned media expert, Prof. Pate is the current Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Kashere (FUK) in Gombe State.
His impressive academic and professional background includes serving as the founding Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University, Kano, and immediate past Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies.
Prof. Pate’s election marks a new chapter for the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters, and his leadership is expected to propel the association to greater heights.
