Professor Umar Pate, the Vice Chancellor, Federal University Kashere, Gombe State, on Saturday extolled the outgoing Registrar of the institution, Kabiru Garba Aminu, saying he personified humility, demonstrated patience, showed exemplary leadership while in office.
The don made this known at a civic reception held at Command Hotel in Bauchi, to celebrate the outgoing registrar for the successful completion of his tenure.
Professor Pate said Garba was specifically and exceptionally helpful in ensuring that things worked efficiently in the university without hitches as he never queried, let alone delayed or sabotaged any decision or activity.
His words: “On many occasions, I have given him diflicult tasks that he handled expertly in record time without complaining or failing, he quickly and fully understood my vision and style of participatory management which made it easy for the two of us to blend very well and he also understood my thinking that good institutions or systems are often built on the sweat, if not on the blood of meticulous pioneers like us. We are all pioneers in the task of building a credible University with firmly rooted academic culture and intellectual relevance in Kashere.
“He earned and commanded the respect of all of us in the Management and beyond, he took every assignment as seriously and joyfully as he could. He, had an encyclopaedic knowledge of the University administration sector. In fact, if l am allowed to pick any one to work with me for the rest of my stay in FUK and beyond, Kabiru Garba was most likely to be the one. Indeed, he is a gift for the ATBU and FUK administrations.
“I congratulate him and wish him many more successes ahead. I won’t have any reservation in investing my confidence in him. My report card on the celebrant is positive, in summary, he represented Bauchi well and exhibited all the good behaviours and positive attributes of Bauchi people of honesty, sense of duty, responsive leadership and vast knowledge of the complexities and intricacies of his office.”
Professor Pate, at the forum also saluted another great achiever from Bauchi State, Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, the immediate past Executive Secretary of TETFUND, whom he said worked with singular devotion to promote the development of education in the country.
“It has been universally acknowledged that Prof Bogoro served well and completed his tenure and exited from the Fund in dignity. He left marvellous legacies that will remain visible on the Nigerian educational landscape for a long to come.
“He distinguished himself with exceptional accomplishments that touched the lives of millions of Nigerians.
“Bauchi State is indeed lucky to have produced eminent Nigerians including Professor Bogoro that have continued to contribute at very high levels in the development of the country. One fact I learned about the distinguished Professor of Animal Science is that in his interactions,
he does not know people by their ethnicities, their nationalities or by their religions or any other biological or sociological discriminant feature. I have observed that he relates with individuals by what they themselves know, what they have achieved, how they do their work and their level of commitment and reliability as colleagues,” he said.
On his part, the immediate past Executive Secretary of TETFUND, Professor Bogoro, described the celebrant as a positive disposed individual who respectfully relates with people.
He, however, congratulated him on the achievements recorded while in serving with the university.
“I am happy to have been associated with a positively disposed individual like Kabiru Garba Aminu, I am with him for many years since when I was a young lecturer in ATBU Bauchi. The way Kabiru relate with people I found him very respectful and I was comfortable to work with him through Mr Andee Iheme in the PR Unit of ATBU.
“So I am not surprised that Kabiru Garba having rose to the rank of Deputy Registrar in ATBU, got appointed as second substantive Registrar in FUK where he did a good job. In fact, looking at the people here at this reception, is like a photograph of who is Kabiru Garba to people,” he said.
