Protest: Police Injure Two in Jigawa

In Jigawa, police have shot and injured two persons in Dutse and Shuwarun town while trying to forcefully disperse protesters.

The police commissioner had reportedly directed his personnel to the disperse the protesters who were heading to the Government House in Dutse, the state capital, as tensions escalated between protesters and security forces.

An eyewitness told WikkiTimes that a child, whose age was not specified, was shot in the head in front of the Jigawa’s seat of power. The eyewitness also confirmed that another person was shot in the leg in Shuwarin, a few kilometers from Dutse.

Accodrding to the eyewitness, the minor was trying to pull down a billboard when he was hit in the head with a teargas.

The victims currently receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital and Rashid Shekoni Hospital, according to WikkiTimes.

A source in Rashid Shekoni Hospital, who prefers anonymity confirmed to WikkiTimes that the injured was receiving treatment but “added that there was no death in the hospital.”
