PRP Condemns Alleged Extravagant Spendings by Bauchi SSG’s Office

The People’s Redemption Party (PRP) in Bauchi State has condemned the alleged extravagant spending by the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

In a statement signed by the State Secretary of the Party, Hon. Abdulazeez Haruna, the PRP expressed shock over “the alleged ₦29,627,828,398.53 (twenty-nine billion, six hundred and twenty-seven million, eight hundred and twenty-eight thousand, three hundred and ninety-eight naira and fifty-three kobo) reportedly spent as overhead expenditure by the SSG’s office within a span of six months.”

According to the statement, the PRP described the expenditure first exposed by WikkiTimes as an insult to the people of Bauchi State, many of whom are struggling to survive in the current harsh economic climate.

The party criticized the reckless use of public funds for unnecessary expenses while the citizens face severe challenges in accessing basic amenities and services.

The PRP called for an urgent investigation into the matter by both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).

“The public deserves to know the breakdown of this massive expenditure and the beneficiaries of this misuse of funds. We demand that those responsible for this act of corruption be brought to justice,” the statement read.

The party further accused the State Government of a lack of accountability and transparency, pointing out that the massive overhead spending as evidence of poor governance.

The PRP urged Governor Bala Mohammed to take swift action to put an end to such fiscal irresponsibility, emphasizing that the people of Bauchi State deserve better leadership.

The PRP also called on citizens to rise and demand accountability and transparency from the government, pledging to keep pushing until those responsible are held accountable and a government that serves the true interests of the people is established.
