PRP Condemns Bauchi Lawmaker for ‘Sugarcane’ Empowerment

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Bauchi State Chapter, has condemned the Member Representing Bauchi Federal Constituency, Hon. Aliyu Aminu Garu, for sugarcane empowerment by his wife.

The PRP, following the circulation of a viral picture that shows, Hajiya Fatima Aliyu Garu, allegedly distributing sugarcane sticks to teenagers as an empowerment initiative, criticized the gesture, describing it as “inadequate and falling short of the meaningful representation expected by the people of Bauchi Federal Constituency.”

In a press release signed by the PRP State Secretary, Hon. Abdulazeez Haruna, the party argued that the people of Bauchi deserve more than “meagre handouts” and superficial programmes.

The party added that genuine representation should address the real needs of constituents through tangible developmental initiatives.

The PRP called on Hon. Aliyu Garu to account for his actions since his election to the National Assembly, questioning the lack of significant development projects, bills, or initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

According to the party, it is high time the lawmaker moved beyond token gestures and work toward sustainable benefits for his constituency.

The party also encouraged the people of Bauchi Federal Constituency to hold their representative accountable, insisting on the need for a change in leadership that genuinely reflects their aspirations.

PRP reaffirmed its commitment to providing better, people-centered representation for the people of Bauchi, stressing that public office holders must be more proactive in addressing the concerns of their communities.
