PRP NEC Dissolves Bauchi, Sokoto Excos Makes Case for New Leadership

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has suspended its members of the executive committee of the party in Bauchi and Sokoto States and replaced them with new members over pitfalls observed in the smooth running of the party.

In a circular signed by the National Secretary of the party Babatunde F. Alli which was made available to WikkiTimes, said the decision was taken over what they called “hitches being created in the smooth running of the party.”

The statement says Barrister Babangida Aliyu and Wada Abdullahi were appointed to serve as Chairman and Secretary in Bauchi State while Abubakar Sani, Hajiya Hadiza Iliya and Tijani Abubakar were to serve as Organising Secretary, Women leader and  Youth leader respectively.

Sokoto has Usman Hassan as Chairman, Hassan M. Sada, as Secretary and Nura Mohammed as Organising Secretary. Others are Murjanatu M. Ahmad and Bashir SA’idu as Women and Youth leaders respectively.

Babatunde F. Alli maintained that the decision was in the interest of the party, hence, directing officials contesting in the 2023 elections to step aside from office till after the elections.

“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party PRP has noted the hitches being created in the smooth running of the party across levels owing to Executive Committee members of the party being serving  Federal/State civil servants or paid Officers/Executives of notable private institutions/Companies.”

The party’s NEC also explained that the suspension and replacement were in accordance with the exercise of its discretionary powers.

Barrister Umar Faruk Gwadabe was the Chairman of the party in Bauchi since 2020 following the defection of the former state chairman Alhaji Shehu Barau Ningi to the All Progressives Congress (APC)
