Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the Gombe State Governor, has ordered for distribution of thousands of bags and assorted cartons of food items to over 120,000 less privileged households in the state.

The directive was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the director-general, press affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, stating that Governor Yahaya approved the immediate distribution of the food items across the 114 wards in the state as part of the Ramadan relief package.

He revealed that the items to be distributed included 25,000 bags of sugar, 15,000 bags of rice, 15,000 gallons of cooking oil, as well as 15,000 cartons each of spaghetti and tomato paste respectively.

He said the items would be distributed to households in the respective wards, religious groups, and associations across the 11 local government areas of the state aimed at providing relief to the beneficiaries in the society.

“To ensure smooth distribution exercise across the 11 local government areas, Governor Yahaya has approved a template to be implemented by the chairmen of local government councils in their respective areas with members of the state House of Assembly as members of the committee.

“Other members of the committee are the commissioners and chairmen of political parties, while senior special assistants on community relations will serve as secretaries,” Misilli said in the statement.
