Rice Dealer Bags Two Years Imprisonment Over N5.3m in Gombe

Gombe State High Court has sentenced a rice salesman Ibrahim Yusuf to two years imprisonment over N5.3m he defrauded one Usman Umar Bello.

Yusuf was remanded by Justice Doraboh Sakkiam of the Gombe High Court in Gombe, on one count charge of cheating contrary to Section 320 of the Penal Code Law and punishable under Section 322 of same Law.

Court Hands-Down Three Years Imprisonment To Two Persons In Gombe For Fraud

The convict was alleged to have sometime in October 2020 obtained the aggregate sum of N5,350,000.00 (Five Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira) from Mr. Bello by falsely representing to him that the money was the payment for the purchase of 520 bags of paddy rice but converted the same amount to his personal use.

Mr Yusuf pleaded guilty to the charge when it was read to him, and Justice Sakkiam accordingly sentenced him to two years imprisonment.
