Road Closure by Mosques & Churches: Bauchi Assembly directs enforcement of ban

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has directed security operatives to enforce the ban on closure of some access roads in Bauchi metropolis during worship by mosques and churches on Fridays and Sundays respectively, reports Daily Trust.

This followed a motion by member representing Bauchi central Constituency Jamilu Umaru Dahiru during plenary on the need for the Assembly to ensure strict compliance of resolutions made by the 8th Assembly.

Daily Trust quoted the lawmaker as saying that the unnecessary blockage of roads make it difficult for people to access markets, hospitals, schools, offices and other vital points.

He described the roads closure as unnecessary since Bauchi State is peaceful and not experiencing any security threats, saying roads should remain open all days so that people can go about their normal businesses without hindrance.
