Satirist Dan Bello Blasts Govt for Hardship in Nigeria

Nigerian skit maker Dan Bello has criticized the federal government for enacting policies that, he claims, are worsening Nigeria’s economic hardships.

Speaking on Trust TV’s Daily Politics on Tuesday, Bello argued that the widespread suffering across the nation is a direct result of avoidable government decisions, not natural disasters or unforeseen calamities.

“These issues we are facing are not due to natural disasters like rainfall or tsunamis; they stem from policies that could have been avoided,” Bello stated.

He expressed frustration with leaders who, in his view, have imposed harmful policies and then turned a blind eye to the suffering they have caused.

According to Bello, the government’s indifference to the public’s plight has led to extreme poverty, with people resorting to desperate measures such as eating grass and drinking contaminated water to stay alive.

“The ruling party has enacted policies that are making people hungry. People are dying. People are eating grass right now. People are drinking contaminated water. People go about knocking doors and saying we have not eaten for three days,” he added.

Bello further condemned the government for attempting to silence critics while they enrich themselves through questionable projects.

He challenged the leaders to take legal action if they were truly unhappy with his criticisms, suggesting that such reactions only prove the effectiveness of his work in holding them accountable.
