Security forces in Zamfara state have thwarted bandits’ attack on unsuspecting locals who gathered to commemorate Maulud Nabiy in Gummi metropolis of Zamfara State.
The armed bandits reportedly disrupted the event around 01:00 am on Sunday when they planned to waylay the congregation, according to Abdul Balarabe, a Zamfara based journalist.

However, the bandits were not successful in their mission as they were repelled by security forces who arrived at the scene to rescue the innocent worshippers.
“We heard reverberation of gun sounds as a result of heavy but several exchange of gunshots between the soldiers and the armed marauders at the scene.
“The military prompted their action to the attacked area at the time the terrorists were operating against the innocent residents,” Balarabe quoted an eyewitness.
Yesterday, WikkiTimes reported that an unspecified number of worshippers were reportedly abducted by bandits while performing Ishai prayer at a mosque in Gatakawa, Kankara local council, Katsina State.
