Self-acclaimed Gombe Doctor Criticised for ‘Bogus’  Claims

The Gombe State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has criticized Dr Abubakar Sadiq Pharmacy over medical claims the latter made recently.

The league, in a statement dated March 10, berated the self-acclaimed medical practitioner who claimed he has a machine that “burns” any ailment including cold, poor sight, infertility in women as well as other diseases that require surgery.

Pharmacy as he’s fondly called claimed further that medical practitioners in Germany and beyond no longer carry out surgeries, but rather ‘burn’ all surgical diseases.

The cleric, however,  called on the public with any such ailment to consult him and pay for his services.

Reacting, Gombe NMA Chairman, Dr Abdulsalam Khalifa Ibrahim, stated: “The attention of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Gombe state chapter has been drawn to a viral video recording of one self-acclaimed Dr. Abubakar Sadiq pharmacy Gombe who resides in Gombe state as referenced in his video with the link https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYaG9py! The video in question with the link https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMYachLX6/ shows the so-called Dr. Abubakar Sadiq pharmacy Gombe making wild claims of having a machine that “burns” (probably referring to “treat”) any ailment such as cold, poor sight, infertility in women and many other diseases that require surgery.”

Also, the association called for the intervention of medical regulatory bodies including ministries of health and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to the claims.

“It is not in the place of NMA Gombe to involve itself directly with such bogus claims by so-called doctors like the person in question as it is not a regulatory agency.

“We will rather leave that to the likes of the state and federal ministries of health and the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria however, the use of a computed tomography scan machine which is a medical imaging device to depict his bogus claims cannot be left without a response as it is capable of misleading the public and also bring doctors who offer services using this device to disrepute,” he stated.

NMA, while announcing that the cleric had in the past, published similar misleading videos, also called on the general public to disregard the claims and only consult certified medical personnels should the need arises.

“This same individual has also put out so many other videos with erroneous medical contents capable of misleading the public and jeopardizing the health of the populace that is if that is not already the case,” Ibrahim added.

In December 2022, WikkiTimes revealed how the self-acclaimed pharmacist swindled a student out of N20,000 with a promise of changing his genotype from AS.

The student told WikkiTimes he was convinced by the cleric’s sermon during a Juma’at prayer where he claimed weak genotypes could be altered. In the long run, the victim realised he had been deceived by the cleric.
