Senator Lawan is the most senior Nigerian legislator—Group

A political group known as ‘ North East Support Group of Senator Ahmed Lawan has asserted that the Senator is the most senior and serving lawmaker having been in the house of representatives from 1999 to 2007 and Senate from 2007 to date.

The group says such experience positions Lawan as more qualified to be president of the 9th senate.

Speaking yesterday during a zonal meeting with states coordinators of the group held in Bauchi, the national chairman Abubakar Adam Muhammed said if experience is what is required to be senate president, Lawan is the best man for the job among all his contenders.

While lamenting the rivalry that ensued between the legislative and executive arms in the last regime, Muhammed assured that based on the good rapport and cordial relationship Lawan enjoyed from President Muhammadu Buhari, there would be harmony that would pave way for development in the country under Lawan’s senate presidency.

” In the past, it took national assembly long time to pass budgets which delayed execution of capital projects in the country. But Senator Ahmed Lawan has promised that if elected senate president, budgets will be passed into law within a maximum of two months”.

” Although there are other APC senators vying for the seat such as Ali Ndume and Danjuma Goje, Ahmed Lawan is the most loyal to the party who will not sabotage the development agenda of president Buhari”. He claimed.

The group also noted that it wrote letters which it would deliver to all elected APC senators to canvass support for Lawan’s senate presidency.
