Penitent bandits in Sokoto state have surrendered over one hundred guns of various types to the state police command as they gave up banditry.
The AIG in charge of zone ten, Muhamad Mustapa gave this indication during a display of the recovered weapons witnessed by Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at the command headquarters in Sokoto.
He noted that the guns displayed includes five AK forty seven riffles, a rocket launcher, as well as various types of pistols and other locally made guns.
AIG Muhammad Mustapa commended the penitent bandits for their repentance, adding that this followed series of reconciliation meetings between them and government.
Also speaking, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal expressed the hope that other states sharing common boundary with the Sokoto will commence reconciliation with bandits in their domains with a view to having a lasting peace.
Earlier, the state commissioner of police Sani Ibrahim Kaoje had commended the state police command for its efforts in ensuring peace and security in d state.
