Six talented students from Gombe State have been chosen for the esteemed African Union Development Agency‘s (AUDA-NEPAD) 200 Scholarship Award, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) founded by First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu.
According to a statement by the Gombe State Ministry of Education’s Information Officer, Saidu Baffa Malal, Commissioner of Education Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari announced the achievement in Abuja while accompanying the selected students to the award presentation.
The scholarship program aims to support secondary school graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds in pursuing higher education. The deserving students from Gombe State are: Abdullahi Abubakar, Kamal Abdulsalam, Elisha Eglah, Muhammad Abdul-Azeez, Hajibukar Mohammed and Yunusa Umar Farouq.
At the award ceremony held at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu emphasized the President’s commitment to prioritizing education, highlighting various initiatives and policies implemented since the administration’s inception.
She also stressed the importance of empowering the Nigerian Girl-child through education, citing the need for Alternative High Schools for Girls across the country.
Minister of Education Prof Tahir Mamman praised Senator Tinubu as an “Education Champion” dedicated to improving the younger generation’s educational prospects, commending her Renewed Hope Initiatives for complementing the administration’s educational policies.”
