Spiro Nigeria, a leading electric mobility company in Africa, on Friday hosted its Media Connect event in Lagos to highlight the potential of electric transportation in the country.
The forum brought together journalists and media professionals to discuss the future of mobility in Nigeria and the role of electric bikes in reducing carbon emissions, improving urban transport, and providing affordable alternatives for commuters.
Rahul Gaur, Director of Spiro West Africa, said the company was committed to driving sustainable change in the transport sector.
“Electric mobility isn’t just the future—it’s the now. And Nigeria is ready to embrace it,” Mr Gaur said.
Participants at the event were given live demonstrations of Spiro’s electric bikes and introduced to its “battery swapping” technology, which allows riders to exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones within minutes.
The system, Mr Gaur explained, eliminates concerns over long charging times or limited access to power.
“We are offering very affordable mobility and new technology to the public. With enough battery-swapping stations, riders don’t have to worry about charging at home,” he added.
Spiro has already established operations in Lagos and is expanding into other cities, including Ogun, Abuja, Taraba, Niger, Nasarawa, and Gombe. Plans are also underway to extend services to Oyo, Kaduna, and Ondo states.
The company has been building a network of charging stations, service centres, and rider support systems as part of its push to strengthen Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and more sustainable transport.
Spiro said it aims to create public awareness and foster partnerships that will accelerate acceptance of electric mobility across the country.
