In a shocking turn of events, former Arsenal and Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly set to come out of retirement to replace injured Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who was out due to injury for 8 months
Ter Stegen suffered a serious injury that will keep him sidelined for eight months, leaving Barcelona scrambling to find a suitable replacement as they feel their second-choice goalkeeper isn’t an option.
Szczesny, who announced his retirement from professional football just one month ago, is now in talks with the Catalan giants to fill the void left by Ter Stegen’s injury.
Szczesny was an Arsenal player from the 2010/2011 season to the 2014/2015 season when he went to As Roma for two seasons on loan. And in 2017 Juventus came for him and he spent seven seasons with the Italian giants going into his retirement.
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen who suffered a knee ligament injury in their weekend encounter against Villar Real is set to be out for 8 months which is a serious blow for the Catalan giants.
Szczesny accepted Barcelona’s bid for a one-year contract and his medicals are already booked in the coming days in Spain.
He is poised to make a stunning return to professional football, replacing injured Andre Ter Stegen at Barcelona as he said. I’m considering it, we are in talks”, has told Sport.
“It’d be disrespectful if I didn’t consider this option”.
