The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Bauchi State Council has announced that it will be part of the planned one-day nationwide warning strike on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, to protest increase in mobile call and data tariff hikes
The Chairman of NLC in the State, Comrade Shuaibu Dauda, made the disclosure while briefing journalists shortly after an Executive Council meeting held at the NLC headquarters in Bauchi on Monday.
Comrade Dauda noted that the strike is aimed at protesting the Nigerian Communications Commission’s decision to increase tariffs by 50% for calls and data.
He said the purpose of the strike is to show the grievances over the increment in tariff amid economic challenges facing Nigerians.
Comrade Dauda urged all organised labour unions in the state to mobilize their members to participate in the strike.
The NLC has been actively involved in advocating for workers’ rights and protesting policies that negatively impact the workforce.
He noted that the national body of NLC has instructed the Bauchi State Council to take this action, indicating a unified stance against the tariff increase.
