Aisha Yesufu, a Nigerian activist said no one should sign a peace pact on behalf of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“No way should anyone be signing a peace accord on behalf of anyone! Bola Ahmed Tinubu has to sign for himself,” the activist tweeted about an hour ago.
Aisha is also the co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls rally, a social movement aimed at rescuing over 200 girls abducted from a secondary school in Chibok on April 14, 2014, by Boko Haram insurgents.
The peace pact was organised by the National Peace Committee (NPC) at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja, under the chairmanship of a former military Head of State, Abdulsalami Abubakar Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.
However, while presidential flagbearers of other parties were in attendance to sign the pact ahead of the 2023 election, Tinubu was absent and represented by his running mate, Kashim Shettima.
Tinubu left the country on Sunday for a “meeting with some groups” in the United Kingdom. Although, there were speculations that he had gone to seek medical attention.
Since his emergence as the party’s flagbearer, Tinubu has been repeatedly jeered over his old age and health status. Critics, citing the present leadership of the country, were of the opinion that Nigeria needs a healthier president.
