The Benue State government has expressed commitment to demarcate the boundary between Oju and Konshisha in an attempt to end the lingering conflict between the two local councils.
This was disclosed by Sam Ode. the deputy governor of the state during an interaction with the Igede Consultative Forum he noted that demarcation is the only solution to the crisis
“Boundary demarcation is the only solution to the lingering crisis between the two local governments,” he said. “And in doing so, I promise you that I will be fair and just to both sides, because I have no vested interest in the matter.”
Also the deputy governor noted that the state governments will be setting up a judicial commission of inquiry to ascertain the causes of the recent crisis between Oju and Ibilla Communities in Oju local council.
WikkiTimes understands that land disputes caused some of the recent communal crisis in Benue state. For instance, the crisis between the Bonta and Ukpute communities of Konshisa and Oju LGAs, last year, were caused by land disputes.
The recent crisis between the Oju and Ibilla communties which claimed many lives was also caused by land dispute.
