Toxic Behaviour: Bauchi Emirate Stripes Traditional Title On House Of Reps Member

Yakubu Shehu Abdullahi, a member representing Bauchi Local Government at the House of Representatives has been stripped of his traditional title of Wakilin Birnin Bauchi with immediate effect.

The decision according to the emirate followed a toxic behavior amounting to disrespect to the Emir of Bauchi Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.

In a letter written in Hausa, the emirate said  the lawmaker, in addition to disrespecting the emir has equally decentralize his “bad behavior” to other traditional title holders and village heads in Bauchi, a behavior that compelled the emirate to act.

The letter made reference to a situation that happened at the Government House on Saturday during the annual Sallah Hawan Daushe where the lawmaker was accused of putting up dress code that violates standard dress code that represents the ancient tradition.

The emirate in the letter added that the lawmaker was also talking anyhow on the emir and other respected traditional leaders in the state.

“After thorough deliberation by the Emirate Council on your actions which are disrespectful to the Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu, you are hereby suspended as the Wakilin Birnin Bauchi indefinitely until further notice.”

Attempts to get his reaction on the development failed as the lawmaker neither picked nor returned calls.
