The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed the death of five officers and the injury of two others in an ambush attack by suspected Fulani youths in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Muhammed Wakil, the attack occurred on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at about 11:30am, while a combined team of police tactical units were on an intelligence-led visibility patrol to prevent and manage farmer-herder conflicts in the area.
The deceased officers are DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU), while Inspectors Isah Musa (SID) and Yusuf Gambo (SID) sustained injuries.
The statement revealed that the police team was ambushed by the attackers, who opened fire on them, leading to the casualties.The Divisional Police Officer, SP Auwalu Ilu, led a reinforcement team to the scene, rescued and evacuated the injured and deceased personnel to the hospital, and deposited the remains at the morgue.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has condemned the attack and assured the public that the command will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice.The police command has launched an investigation into the incident and is working to track down and arrest the attackers.
The police commiserated with the families of the deceased officers and assuring the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in the state.
