Tribunal Judgement: Bala, Sadiq Know fate Tomorrow

The Bauchi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will deliver its judgement on the petition by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sadiq Baba Abubakar challenging the re-election of the incumbent Governor of the state, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, PDP, tomorrow.

INEC declared Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed the winner of the March 2023 governorship election with 525,280 votes to defeat his closest contestant Sadique Baba Abubakar, APC, who polled 432,272 votes.

Meanwhile, police in the state suspended all fireworks and rallies for or against the judgment of the tribunal. 

The police proscribed all forms of celebrations and rallies by political party supporters for or against winners or losers of the Gubernatorial Election Petition Tribunal judgement are proscribed. 

He warned that ecstatic supporters must conduct themselves in line with the provisions of the law; blockage of roads, fireworks, and inciting utterances would not be condoned.

“The Command will not shillyshally to decisively deal with any person(s) or group(s) who violate this order or deliberately cause the breakdown of law and order in whatever manner. 

“Those in violation will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law as security agencies have been deployed strategically and directed to ensure full enforcement.

“Against the milieu of this development, the Commissioner of Police Bauchi State Command, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad psc, urges members of the public to cooperate with the security agencies as many Police operatives will be seen at strategic areas, routes, and communities to suppress the antics and criminal act of underworld personalities,” SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said in a statement made available to reporters.
