Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralized nine Boko Haram terrorists and recovered over ₦5 million in ransom money during coordinated fighting patrols around Magumeri and Gajiram general areas of Borno State.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, the operations were carried out on October 10, 2025, following credible intelligence on terrorist movements in the Goni Dunari area of Magumeri LGA.
The troops reportedly intercepted the insurgents, who were moving in two vehicles with about 24 fighters on foot, after they had set several houses ablaze and terrorized residents.
“Troops advanced towards the objective, and the terrorists attempted to flee towards Damjiyakiri village. After a four-hour tactical pursuit, troops established contact and engaged them with superior firepower, neutralizing five terrorists while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
Items recovered from the operation included one AK-47 rifle, five magazines (two loaded and three empty), 31 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a dagger, and a mobile phone. No casualties or equipment losses were recorded by the troops.
In a related operation along the Gajiram–Bolori–Mile 40–Gajiganna axis, troops on motorcycles engaged another group of Boko Haram fighters near Zundur village, killing four terrorists and rescuing two abducted civilians identified as Modu Kinnami (55) and Bukar (57), both from Guzamala.
The statement revealed that the rescued victims were held for ransom by the insurgents, who had demanded ₦2 million and two new Tecno phones before their release.
During the raid, troops recovered ₦4.35 million in cash, a blue pickup vehicle (registration number GUB 327 XA), two new Tecno phones, and a 30-litre jerrycan of petrol.
Uba said further clearance operations were ongoing across multiple fronts to sustain pressure on the terrorists and deny them freedom of movement in the region.
