At least six vehicles have been damaged while unspecified properties have been lost as a result of gas cylinders explosion at a filling station in Jibi’a LGA of Katsina State.
The truckload of gas cylinders was at Tamal filling station along Kagadama – Magamar Jibia road, Jibia town alongside other vehicles when it exploded.
Confirming the incident, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Katsina State Police Command’s spokesman said six vehicles were damaged.
He said upon hearing the sound of the explosion, police operatives attached to Jibi’a Division in collaboration with the military were swiftly mobilized to the scene to protect lives and minimize property damage, adding that the fire was successfully quenched.
“Today, November 15th, 2024, at about 0845hrs, a loud explosion was heard by police operatives attached to Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters. Responding promptly, the DPO led operatives, in collaboration with the military, to the scene”.
“Upon arrival, operatives found a truck loaded with gas cylinders engulfed in flames at Tamal filling station along Kagadama – Magamar Jibia road, Jibia LGA. The joint team swiftly deployed preventive measures to protect lives and minimize property damage, successfully quenching the fire”,said Aliyu.
The Spokesman confirmed that six vehicles were significantly affected by the fire incident and that investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of explosion.
