A truck driver has killed a student of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi who was trying to cross a road on a commercial motorcycle popularly called Okada Tuesday evening.
Ms Faith Aluku Adeshola, a journalism diploma student of the Department of Mass Communication of the Institution was reportedly heading for her evening lecture when the incident happened.
Eyewitness said at the time of the accident, Ms faith was being conveyed to the school when the truck driver rammed into them, leading to her death on the spot.
WikkiTimes gathered that the driver and the Okada rider are currently in police custody in Bauchi. Meanwhile, Ms Faith’s body was deposited at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital morgue.
Comrade Haruna Umar, president of the polytechnic’s Students’ Union Government (SUG), said that at the time of the accident, Ms Faith was still processing her registration.
Comrade Umar appealed to the students to be patient and calm as the management of the polytechnic and security agencies are doing the working to get justice for Ms Faith.
He appealed to the Polytechnic’s management and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to install speed bumps around the Polytechnic’s fence to prevent future occurrences.
