Two Dead, 5 Injured in Niger Trucks Collision

At least two persons lost their lives while five others sustained injuries in an accident that occurred along Lagos-Kaduna highway in Mokwa local area of Niger State.

Eyewitnesses told WikkiTimes that two trucks were involved in the accident. They said the trucks collided in Marraba junction, Mokwa, on Saturday.

At least nine cows were also killed in the accident.

An eyewitness, Hassan Isah, said the accident occurred while the trucks tried to pave a way for an overspeeding car. Unfortunately , they were forced off the highway.

“The trucks collided and a truck loaded with cows fell on a gutter. Instantly, four people died. And the cows belong to the victims.

“Also, nine cows died on the spot. The dead victims were in the midst of the cows,” he told WikkiTimes

The injured victims, WikkiTimes, learnt were rushed to Mokwa General Hospital for medical attention.

Kumar Tsukwam, Niger State Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, saying the incident occurred along Y junction of Mokwa.

“The total number of people involved in the accident were 23 people while two died and five injured in the accident,” he told WikkiTimes.

“The injured victims were taken to General Hospital Mokwa for treatment and the corpses were deposited at the hospital mortuary.”
