WikkiTimes learnt that the Zamfara PDP is determined to hold political events despite the state government’s order restricting political activities, meetings and gatherings anywhere including individual residences till further notice.
The order was given yesterday when the Zamfara State government blocked some major highways and banned movements in some local councils. The measure, according to the government was to contain banditry ravaging the state.
However, oppositions in the state were of the view that the government’s claims were nothing but lies. They argued that the government should have deployed more security personnel to the affected areas.

They also wondered how the government intended to help the people living in the affected areas, especially the less privileged ones. The opposition further argued that the government last year, shut communication networks without pacifying the locals.
Mohammed Shehu, the spokesman for Zamfara Police Command did not respond to calls. At press times, he had not responded to a text sent to him.
