A pit has collapsed upon two local miners while working on an illegal mining site in Kano State, Premium Times reports.
The incident, which occurred in Bichi Local Government Area of the state claimed the lives of one Sani Sa’idu, 70, and Ibrahim Sale, whose age is yet to be ascertained, according to the Kano state police command.

The illegal miners are among thousands of others who roam mining sites in Kano in search of precious stones, like blue sapphires.Â
Speaking to reporters, the Kano state police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa said the bodies of the victims were taken to the Bichi General Hospital.
He added that the police are presently investigating the incident.
