The United States faith-based Non-Governmental Organization, Islamic Relief USA, has distributed meat worth $ 20,000 to Bauchi communities.
WikkiTimes gathered that approximately 1,000 households in 20 communities within the support zone of poor protected areas in the four game reserves of Bauchi State benefited during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
The communities selected revolve around the Yankari Game Reserves, Lame Bura, Mala Dumba, and Summu wildlife park.
Speaking at the distribution exercise, the Programme Manager, Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) in Charge of Northern Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Garba Boyi explained that the project, which was funded by Islamic Relief USA through NCF, provided each beneficiary, which included aged people, widows, orphans and vulnerable individuals, with 3 kilograms of meat.
Muhammad Boyi added that the foundation is collaborating with International Organizations to assist the poorest communities in the protected zones in the state’s game reserves to have a sense of belonging and to celebrate the Sallah with ease.
He pledged for the sustenance of the gesture and called on the beneficiaries and people of the communities to pray for the donors and the NCF .
The NFC Programme Manager expressed optimism that with the beneficiaries’ conducting themselves with decorum, proper coordination and implementation of the distribution process, the Islamic Relief USA would sustain the gesture and bring more projects that will impact positively on lives of the people in all the protected areas.
Boyi explained that the project is being implemented to encourage people in the communities to protect the game reserves from vandalism.
Representative of the Bauchi state government, the Managing Director of State Tourism Development Corporation, Dr Muhammad Nasiru Yusuf, praised the donour, saying Governor Bala Muhammad is determined to partner with any organization towards the development of the state.
In their separate remarks, the Ward Heads of Duguri in Alkaleri, Ilya Adamu, Yuga in Lame Burra Abdullahi Adamu, and that of Pali, Ahmad Dauda, thanked Islamic Relief USA for the kind gesture and called on other NGOs to emulate.
In an interview, some of the beneficiaries, Aishatu Yunusa and Yakubu Muhammad, who expressed delight over the donation, prayed to Allah to reward them abundantly.
They applauded NCF and the NGO for the kind gesture and solicited for more interventions from other philanthropists.
