Huzaifa Karfi, a lecturer at Kano State University of Science and Technology (KSTU), is being held after delivering a ransom for Abdulyahyah Ilo, the kidnapped village head of Karfi in Takai Local Government of Kano State.
WikkiTimes had reported how Ilo was kidnapped in an attack that claimed five lives — one from his village (Karfi) and four in Unguwar Tudun Makama, a neighbouring village.
After spending five days in captivity, the village regained his freedom. Musa Sa’ad, a resident of the village confirmed the release of the village head on Friday, adding that Huzaifa who had gone to pay his (village head) ransom was held back.
According to him, some local vigilantes and hunters during a reinforcement arrested one of the bandits in connection with the crime.
The bandits, however, demanded the release of their captured member in exchange for Huzaifa. “They demanded the release of their man as a condition to release him,” Sa’ad said.
WikkiTimes learned that the released village head is now was receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
