VC tasks Nigerians to support higher education

The Vice-Chancellor (VC), Federal University Gashua in Yobe State, Professor Andrew Haruna has called for the intervention of Nigerians in the improvement of the education sector.

Professor Andrew Haruna made the call at the 57th Graduation and Award presentation of ECWA Theological College Bayara held at the college premises.

The VC said since government has provided the enabling environment for teaching and learning, there was need for collective efforts towards achieving the set objectives in the sector.

He stressed the need for stakeholders in the sector especially teachers and lecturers to be committed towards the provision of qualitative knowledge to the younger generation.

Professor Andrew Haruna  who is among the recipient of an award during the occasion, expressed gratitude to the Management of the College for finding him worthy of the honor.

Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Dass, Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman identified education as one of the only means of ensuring peaceful coexistence in the society.

Alhaji Bilyaminu Othman opined that education is key to elimination of violence and other social vices and called on the citizens to embrace the sector for societal development.

Among the graduating students include Ishola Michael, Press Secretary to former Governor of Bauchi state Isah Yuguda.
