Veteran Journalist, Ajibola Knocks Keyamo Over False Information About Deceased Zimbabwean Leaders

Ajibola Amzat, Africa Editor for the Centre for Collaborative Investigative Journalism (CCIJ) has chided Festus Keyamo, spokesman for All Progressive Congress (APC) Campaign Council who claimed Robert Mugabe outlived Morgan Tsvangirai by 10 years.

Keyamo made the claim during Politics Today, a daily program hosted on Channel Television. He made the while reacting to speculations about the health conditions of the party’s presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the recent endorsement of his (Tinubu) counterpart in Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi by former president Olusegun Obasanjo including Chief Edwin Clark, a Nigerian novelist and politician from Delta State.

The veteran journalist in a Twitter post countered Keyamo’s claim, stressing that the Zimbabwean leaders died one year apart.

“Mr @fkeyamo just said on Channels’ Politics today that Robert Mugabe outlived Morgan Tsvangirai by 10 years,” Amzat tweeted. “That is false information, sir. Morgan Tsvangirai died on 14/2/2018 while Robert Mugabe died on 6/9/2019.”
